In dull, rainy January there are few wildflowers around to brighten up the day. Gorse (Ulex europaeus) is one exception which is always a very welcome sight. The small, yellow, pea-like flowers of gorse will cheer up any winter walk. Gorse flowers from January, reaching the height of its brilliance in Spring to early Summer. Common in a variety of habitats, from woodland, heathland, grassland to coast you can find this spiky shrub UK wide.

Nice post, I didn’t realise gorse was one of the few plants that actually flowers in the middle of winter, it kind of makes sense now why those bright yellow flowers stand out so much on dull January days. It’s interesting how something so common can still play an important role in supporting wildlife and adding colour when not much else is around . I’ve started paying a bit more attention to small details like this on walks lately. Balancing uni work alongside everything can get a bit hectic though, so I sometimes check resources like rapid assignment help as well, and recently came across Help With Assignments UK which seemed useful too, overall really simple and informative read.
