Friday 23rd October 7.30pm   The Wesley Hall at Otley Common

A new witty and informative talk from the popular TV personality and WFO patron. As part of our fifth wildlife arts festival, George will be speaking at Otley's exciting new community venue, the Common, followed by a Q&A.  After consecutive careers in academia and media George shares his personal journey to discover the world of wildlife - big and especially small - and explains why even in light of the current climate and nature crisis, his passion for the natural world is as strong as ever.

George McGavin studied Zoology at Edinburgh University, followed by a PhD in entomology at Imperial College and the Natural History Museum in London. After 30 years as an academic, mostly at Oxford University, he became an award-winning broadcaster. George is an Honorary Research Associate of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. In 2019 George became the President of the Dorset Wildlife Trust. His recent books include The Hidden World (2024) and The Good Bug (2024).
